Srinagar, Apr 4 : The Kashmir Valley was shaken by a moderate intensity earthquake on Thursday afternoon, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
"The earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter Scale. It hit Kashmir Valley for 10 seconds at 12:02 pm," said an IMD official.
The epicentre of the quake was in the Hindukush mountains in Afghanistan.
The coordinates of epicentre were 36.47 degrees North and 71.12 degrees East.
According to local media, there has been no casualty, injury or damage to property in the quake.
