Chandigarh, May 22 : Taking serious note of the degrading soil health due to the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilisers by the farmers, the scientists of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar have suggested a very easy and simple method for making organic manure.
The scientists have advised the farmers to accumulate animal fallings and other bio-degradable wastes available in the houses of the farmers, in streets and roads and other social places and make a bowl-type heap of this waste. Water should be poured into this heap of waste so as to make it fully wet.
Now, it should be covered with the black coloured polythene so as to make it air tight. The heap of waste should remain covered for one-and-a-half to two months to convert it into organic manure. In this way, farmers could make good manure of the wastes without spending even a penny for their crops and at the same time, they would also keep their village clean, a CCSHAU release here said.
