Panaji, Feb 8 : Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, now in jail in a sexual assault case of his colleague, on Saturday applied for bail in the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court.
Reports said his petition would be heard next week.
Earlier in January, a Goa court on Wednesday rejected Tarun Tejpal's bail plea.
Tejpal, who was arrested by the Goa Police on Nov 30 after his anticipatory bail was rejected in the case of a sexual assault charge, is currently lodged at the Sada sub-jail in Vasco town.
The journalist has been booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (2) (f) and 376 C.
Tejpal allegedly sexually assaulted a woman journalist of his organisation twice in an elevator of Grand Hyatt Goa during the Think festival of Tehelka where ironically the participants were debating on issues like rape.
The action of Tejpal is considered as rape under the new definition of the anti-rape law in India.
