Former social welfare minister in Nitish Kumar's Bihar government Parveen Amanullah on Thursday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after quitting the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] party, media reports said.

Amanullah quit JD(U) on Tuesday.

"I had several problems with the Nitish government and none of my concerns regarding corruption were being addressed. I have been in talks with AAP for a month and have finally decided to join the party," she was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

With Amanullah joining AAP, the party can expect a fillip in the state of Bihar.
