TDP to build memorial for Narasimha Rao at Delhi: Chandrababu
With an eye on Telangana, TDP chief and CM designate of Seemandhra N Chandrababu Naidu today said he would promote a fitting national memorial for Telugu Bidda (Telugu son) former PM P V Narasimha Rao at Delhi.
Addressing party workers and delegates at the 33rd annual convention of TDP at Gandipet on the banks of Himayatsagar lake, 25 kms from Hyderabad, the TDP president said his party will strive to resurrect the self pride of Telangana by setting up a fitting memorial for Narasimha Rao.
Mr Naidu said within six months the government in Seemandhra will set up a commission for inclusion of Kapus into the BC category.
"Our commitment to waive farm loans and also arrears of DWCRA women to tune of Rs 82,000 crore is top priority," he told reporters during luncheon break at the Mahanadu grounds.
However, he also added that the Seemandhra after bifurcation was on verge of bankruptcy and did not have sufficient funds to even pay the salary to employees on first of July.
"We are confident that the centre, with Mr Modi in lead, would understand our problems and help AP in a big way" he said.
TDP chief Mr Naidu said the party had missed capturing power in 2009 due to alliance with TRS and Praja Rajyam of Chiranjeevi which cut into TDP votes. ' This time our alliance with BJP was mostly for future support and we have won on our own strategy. Even the money and muscle power of Jagan party had failed to stop TDP' he charged adding by 2019 TDP will unfurl its flag in Telangana as well.
The TDP Mahanadu is both an occasion for celebration for the party which has returned to power after 10 long years in opposition and also to recap on its poll promises made during general elections -2013.
The highlight of the Mahanadu was a photo exhibition on the 116 days padayatra of Chandrababu Naidu.
Nearly 15,000 party delegates from all the 23 districts are participating in the mega party event which was kicked off by the founder of TDP N T Rama Rao in 1983 to showcase the party cadres and leadership Chandrababu Naidu has been holding.
Mr Naidu will be re-elected as the President of TDP for a tenth term tomorrow.
NTR's actor sons Balakrishna and Harikrishna were among the family members who attended the Mahanadu .
Following the defeat of D Purandeswari from Rajampet parliament seat, most of the NTR family members want into a hudle and kept away from TDP event.
Mr Naidu's son Lokesh was the chief attraction with many delegates queuing up to greet and shake hands with them Lokesh had been the mastermind of the youth campaign of the party Lokesh has introduced a biometric registration system at Mahanadu by giving each delegate a Photo ID card .
The IT team of Lokesh had also set up media cell and organized 24x7 video coverage of all events . 'We have organized 75 varieties of food items, including, the delicacies of coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana' said Lokesh. Cooks were specially brought from Indupur near Gudivvada. Special entertainment and cultural programs by evening and screening of NTR's pet films by night were also organized at the Mahanadu venue. The Mahanadu was to entertain party cadres who have worked hard for the party in the elections and during its worst period of congress regime, in which nearly 2000 activists were killed in faction fights in Rayalaseema during congress regime. TDP had set up a blood bank, a hospital and also a school to support the party workers and leaders in hours distress, says party leader K Rammohan Rao.
