The Berhampur police have detained 13 of the 27 juvenile delinquents of Juvenile Home for Children, who have escaped yesterday attacking the staff including Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Mahanty,

Deputy Secretary Department of Women and Child Development Rashmita Panda, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum- President Juvenile Justice Board Debidutta Devi and Sub Collector Berhampur Bijaya Kumar Das today visited the Juvenile Home run by the Welfare Department to review the situation in the aftermath of the escape of the 27 delinquents.

Mr Das who described the situation as very sensitive, said the authority has decided to shift all the delinquents of the Juvenile Home for Children to a newly constructed building near the 'Nari Sadan' here, which will be be completed soon.

The Sub Collector who talked to the inmates of the Juvenile Home said there was no motive for escaping, but all were instigated by one or two inmates to attack the staff and flee from the home.

He clarified that there was no difficulties or complaints about quantity and quality of foods served to the inmates. Steps are also being taken to avoid repetition of such incident.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Mahanty who sustained injury on his head and hand joined his duty today. He described the attack of the delinquents as pre planned.

Member Juvenile Justice Board Abani Shankar Parida said the delinquents who have crossed the age limit of 18 years and lodged in the Juvenile Home, should be segregated as they are more prone to commit crimes.
