Simmering disappointment among the dropped ministers of Neiphiu Rio ministry by new Chief Minister T R Zeliang is gradually coming out as their supporters have taken up path of agitation and destroyed district office of the Naga Peoples Front in some places of the state.

According to the sources here today, infuriated over S Pangnyu Phom's exclusion as Cabinet Minister under T R Zeliang's newly formed government, hundreds of NPF youth reportedly from Longleng division ransacked the NPF Longleng office in protest yesterday. Mr Pangnyu was the minister for Industries and Commerce and chairman NIDC Ltd during former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's regime. The angry youth group stormed the office and damaged several properties inside the three-storied building of the NPF's Longleng Assembly Constituency office. They also shut the entrance door to the office and put up placards.

Meanwhile, in a press statement the youth group said they were compelled take up such a step for dropping the name of the sole cabinet minister, who wasw a representative of Phomtribe. They termed the action as "a black and introvert policy being played by the self style and selfish legislatures of DAN III". They however, maintained that public of Longleng district had always stood for keeping the regional party strong and had never pulled down party's reputation at any time.

However, Mr Phom had said he respected the "emotion and sentiments" of the people of Longleng district and urged them to remain calm over the issue.

In a statement, the MLA said the present political setup had been "done" by the party high command and it was their duty to respect the decision.

In Mokokchung, what appears to be a direct fallout of the axing of two cabinet ministers from the nascent T R Zeliang-led DAN ministry in the State, supporters of axed Ministers Imkong L Imchen and Merentoshi R Jamir on Sunday locked the NPF district office at Mokochung as a sign of dissent.

Sources from Mokokchung said the party workers of the two cabinet ministers were all in favour of torching the NPF office at Mokokchung but were stopped by the two axed ministers in the greater interest of the party.

A meeting of the supporters of the two ministers had reportedly been convened yesterday, after which future course of action, would be decided, sources close to the two dismissed ministers informed.

As per the reports, NPF workers from Koridang constituency from which former Health and Family Welfare Minster Imkong L Jmchen was the elected member, locked down the office of the NPF office Mokokchung, followed by workers from Mongoya constituency represented by former Minister for Youth Resources and Sports, Merentoshi R Jamir.
