Celebrations in Karnataka as Modi becomes PM
All-round celebrations were seen in most parts of Karnataka after BJP's star leader Narendra Modi took oath as the 15th Prime Minister of India in New Delhi this evening.
The sky was lit up with rocket bursts even as BJP supporters distributed sweets and celebrated the historic occasion.
BJP emerged as the leading party in Karnataka also gaining 17 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats and has three ministers -- H N Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda and G M Siddeshwar landed berths in the Modi cabinet and took oath at the glittering function in the national capital.
The celebration was akin to Festival of Lights -- 'Deepawali'- even common people took part in bursting of crackers in cities, villages and towns.
BJP workers, wearing saffron caps, robes with 'Namo Modi' printed prominently, were seen exchanging greetings and distributing sweets to the public.
The much awaited ceremony on the foreground of Rashtrapati Bhavan was beamed on wide screens in major cities and towns of the state.
The Jagannath Bhavan, the headquarters of the BJP state unit here, wore a festive look and traffic stopped on the thoroughfares of busy Malleshwaram area.
In Bangalore alone, tones of sweets including laddu, jalebi and Mysore pak were distributed among people by the celebrating saffron men and women. They went from house to house distributing sweets and share their happiness.
The celebration began early in the morning when BJP workers offered breakfast and 'Chai' to people in most areas. Thereafter, lunch was also served.
