The Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has got the environment clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) to set up a 2x250 MW Barauni (extension) thermal power project at Barauni, Bihar.


The project cost is estimated at around Rs 3,666 crore, India Coal Market Watch (ICMW) reported.

The project had been awarded tapering linkage from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) till the linked captive coal block - Urma Paharitola- becomes operational.

The clearance has been given subject to use of coal with sulphur content not exceeding 0.6 per cent and ash content not exceeding 40.1 pc.
