TDP urges Guv to direct DGP to issue red corner notice
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has urged Governor ESL Narasimhan to direct the DGP for taking immediate steps to arrest the culprit Kollam Gangi Reddy who escaped to Dubai, by issuing red corner notice if needed.
In a letter addressed to the Governor last night, TDP supremo and Andhra Chief Minister designate Naidu alleged that the irresponsible and negligent conduct of the police force had facilitated the escape of Reddy, who was accused in several criminal and smuggling cases including the dastardly assassination attack on him at Alipiri (Tirupati , Chittoor district) in 2003, from the country while being on bail granted by Andhra Pradesh High court.
Since, the accused had jumped bail, steps should also be taken to confiscate his properties as per criminal procedure code. Necessary disciplinary action should be taken against the officers responsible, he said.
Mr Naidu strongly suspected that his escape was not a normal occurrence. There appears to be political scheming behind it and added the entire sequence of events need to be probed in order to trace the nexus between Kollam Gangi Reddy and persons or parties behind his escape and the public are informed about his criminal activities.
In view of the seriousness of the situation and smuggling going on in the area, Mr Naidu requested the governor to ensure steps for immediate implementation including intensive combing operations in the Sheshachalm forests to completely eradicate the red sanders smuggling racket and control the interstate smuggling of red sanders with the support of special task force.
Kollam Gangi Reddy is also involved in red sanders smuggling activity in Seshachalm hills in collusion with international smugglers and mafia, he said.
We have given letters to on many times earlier about the illegal activities of Gangi Reddy and after continues persuasion, he was arrested but he could get bail from High court. Subsequently, it was reported that he escaped to Dubai.
The inefficient and irresponsible police administration in the state of Andhra Pradesh has led to escape of Gangi Reddy who was released on bail.
Despite the information that Gangi Reddy is a threat to him (Naidu),the police have failed to keep a watch on the accused and allowed him in escape to Dubai, he also alleged.
