Gruelling heat affect life in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh continued to be in the grip of severe heat wave conditions for the third day, today.
People went through another horrid day as the temperature stayed betweeen 43 to 46 degrees Celsius. Hot winds made life more miserable for the people. Shopping centres and main streets wore a deserted look.
The state capital,too, experienced sweltering heat for the last three days with the temperature hovering around a whopping 42 degrees celsius.
Yesterday, the city recorded 42.3 degrees which was the season's highest.
The weather office has warned that the severe heatwave conditions will continue for some more days at many places in coastal, Rayalaseema and Telangana regions.
It has also forecast rain or thundershowers at few places in all the three regions of the state during the next 48 hours.
A report from Vijayawada said there was no respite from the heatwave conditions which have been prevailing for the last ten days in Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts.
The day temperature was 41.5 Celsius (106.7 F), while minimum was 25 C. All the main thoroughfares wore a deserted look. Unscheduled power cuts and high humidity in the atmosphere have add woes to the people.
The heatwaves would continue to blow for the next five days, meteorological department sources said.
