In a first of its kind in India, SRM University today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arvind Remedies Limited for transfer of US Patent Rights for an anti-Diabetic Ayurvedic formulation.


The MoU was signed at the University campus at suburban Kattankulathur in the presence of SRM Varsity Chancellor Dr T R Pachamuthu, Registrar Dr N Sethuraman.

Dr B Arvind Shah, Managing Director of Arvind Remedies, signed the MoU on behalf of his company.

The MoU envisaged transfer of US patent rights, a first of its kind in India for an anti-diabetic auyrvedic formulation, from SRM University to ARL.

Under the MoU, plant based anti-diabetic formulation developed by Inter-Disciplinary of School of Indian System of Medicine (ISISM), SRM University, with the guidance of ISISM Study Director Dr G P Dubey would be produced as tablets and launched as a therapeutic drug by ARL.

Dr Pachamuthu congratulated the faculty of ISISM for their contribution in the product development and said this was an example of SRM's contribution to translational medicine.
