ROMH performs knee replacement using ATTUNE implants
Dr Naresh P Hanagodu and his team of doctors at Raghavendra Orthopaedic and Multi Speciality Hospital (ROMH) has performed first of its kind of knee replacement surgery using ATTUNE implants for the first time in Andhra Pradesh.
This surgery was performed yesterday on a patient Indira aged 60 years, a resident of the city.
In a media statement here today, Dr Hanagodu said the ATTUNE implants have been just introduced in India fifteen days back. About 60 ATTUNE implants have been performed in India till date. The new technology enables patients to get better motion compared with the devices used in the past. .
"This implant lasts long and more than any other implant. It saves the patient of recurring costs and pain. It offers excellent stability," the doctor said, adding the ATTUNE implant offers an excellent range of movements which is near normal range.
He said the ATTUNE knee was designed to help improve stability and motion. It combined the latest in design, kinematics, engineering and materials to deliver a high level of stability and motion to help patients achieve their optimum range of motion, giving them freedom to move while remaining very stable.
"The ATTUNE Knee uses AOX Polyethylene material, which was designed to optimise performance of the material while providing wear resistance, oxidative stability and mechanical integrity," added the doctor.
