Left Democratic Front (LDF) district committee will organize a march and dharna on May 28, before the 32 police stations in the district, to protest against the move to charge Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAPA) against LDF workers .

Talking to newsmen here today, Mr K P Sahadevan, LDF district convener said the state government had already taken action against 25 activists under KAPA and they are making a list of more than hundred workers under CrPC 107 also.

Last year the LDF had organized a day-night agitation in front of the Inspector General of Police office here.

The then Home Minister had promised that KAPA will not be applied against political activists, however, that promise has been violated that is why, the agitation is being organised, said Mr Sahadevan.

CPI(M) District Secretary P Jayarajan, who also addressed the press conference charged KAPA is meant to be used against goons and criminals but the UDF government was using it as a weapon against the LDF.

He also said if the Home Minister fails to take prompt action, the LDF will continue the agitation indefinitely.

He alleged that after BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP/RSS in the district have started threatening the minority community people in some parts of the district. "Recently, two Muslim families of Chaliyam near Poyiloor were forced to vacate their own house and go to some other places to stay in rented accommodations due to fear. Though they filed complaints before the District Collector and District Police Chief, no action was aken against the miscreants," Mr Jayarajan added.
