Uttarakhand CM Rawat discusses disaster relief projects with NDMA member Saleem
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today met K Saleem, member, National Disaster Management Authority here and conveyed his dismay over tardy progress of disaster relief projects by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in disaster-hit areas.
During the meeting, the CM said, BRO has been given Rs 52 crore for the treatment of Badhethi- Tehkala route under Varunawat scheme. Out of the three bridges, the BRO has not yet finished work even on one bridge. The 9-km road, too, has not been constructed.
The CM said he has sent a letter in this regard to the Defence Ministry.
He added that under the flood control program, the Irrigation Department too has been directed to concentrate on constant development.
Mr Saleem said a better guideline should be designed to deal with the landslides in Himachal and there should be better flood control systems in Uttarkashi.
