RCB to play for pride against formidable CSK in last IPL tie
After dishing out disappointing display and lost all chances to make it to the play-off stage, Royal Challengers Bangalore will meet two times champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the lasing league tie for both the teams to be played here tomorrow.
Chennai is sitting pretty in the second spot the points table with 16 points coming from eight wins out of 13 matches and already qualified for the play-offs. Meanwhile, RCB has just 10 points with five wins playing same number of matches and has lost all chances to make it to the last four.
The 30-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who booked the IPL playoff berth, dashed all hopes of liquor baron Vijay Mallya owned team.
This came despite RCB boasting of a formidable batting line including the Rs 14-crore all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. However, fitness problems faced by opener Chris Gayle and less than consistent top btters Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers resulted in the team languish in the bottom of the table.
The formidable CSK have already qualified for the playoffs and would like to bounce back after they faced a six-wicket rout at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men would also be gunning for revenge against the RCB, who pulled off a five-wicket win in a thrilling match on May 18.
Opener Dwayne Smith, who has contributed well to CSK's campaign so far and is the highest scorner for the team, while Dhoni, Raina and Ravindra Jadeja have done well.
