Tobacco and tobacco products valued at Rs 6,059.31 crore were exported from India in 2013-14.


During the year 2,34,850 tons of unmanufactured tobacco valued at Rs 4,842.01 crore and 29,534 tons of tobacco products valued at Rs 1,217.30 crore were exported. In all 2,64,384 tons of tobacco and tobacco products valued at Rs 6,059.31 crore has been exported, Tobacco Board Chairman Dr K Gopal said in a release here.

The Flue Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco exports has crossed the previous highest record of 1,74,274 m tons in 2009-10 and reached a peak of 1,80,187 m tons valued at Rs 4,085.90 crores, according to official sources here. Export of FCV tobacco during 2013-14 has increased by 2 per cent in quantity and 28 per cent in rupees.

The major buyers of Indian unmanufactured tobacco are Belgium, Egypt, Russia, Korea, Philippins, USA, UAE, Netherlands, Germany, Yemen, Nepal and Poland.

He said that as a special initiative Tobacco Board has given the opportunity to the interested tobacco traders for adoption of whole village demonstration in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) under direct supervision of the Board.
