Fish prasadam to be administered from June 8
On the auspicious occasion of Mrigasira Karthi day, Bathini Brothers of Doodbowli area of the city will distribute free 'fish prasadam' to the people hailing from asthma and other respiratory problems at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally here from June 8
The fish medicine made of some undisclosed herbs, claims to cure asthma and respiratory illnesses.
Talking to media here, Bathini Harinath Goud said, the 'fish prasadam' was administered to the asthma patients on the day of Mrigasira Karthi, which marks the onset of monsoon.
On that day, the Bathini brothers insert some yellow herbal paste into the mouth of a live sardine fish which is about 2 to 3 inches long. This live fresh fish is then slipped into the throat of a patient.
'For vegetarians we prepare separate medicine with jaggery. However, vegetarians need to take the medicine for a longer period,' Harinath Goud said.
'We requested the Hyderabad district authority to make necessary arrangements to facilitate the distribution of the herbal medicine. The medicine will be distributed from June 8 at 1730 hrs to June 9 at 1730 hours,' he said.
The annual event attracts hundreds of people from various parts of the country.
Mr Harinath Goud said the medicine enough to administer to four lakh people have already been prepared.
