Girls outperformed Boys in Tenth/SSLC standard Public Examination in Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2014 achieving 93.6 pass percentage and 18 of them figuring among the 19 top rankers in the state.


The results of the examinations were declared here this morning. As many as 10,20,749 students had appeared through schools for the examination.

The overall pass percentage was 90.7 per cent. Boys registered 88.0 pass per centage. However, both Boys and Girls improved on the pass percentage registered last year, of 86.0 per cent and 92.0 per cent, respectively.

Ten of the 19 top rankers were from the poor Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. The top ranker scored 499 marks out of maximum of 500. The lone boy top ranker was from Pattukkottai.

As many 125 students shared the second rank, scoring 498 out of 500 marks. Again girls outnumbers boys in this numbering 121. Altogether 321 students scored the third rank with a tally of 497 out of 500 marks, with 249 girls figuring among them

As many as 18,682 students scored centum in Mathematics,
69.560 in Science and 26,554 in Social Science(History and Geography).

As many as 7,10,010 candidates scored 60 per cent and above aggregate. In the academic year 2013, the figure was 7.14.522 candidates.
