1 killed, 8 injured in rain-related incidents in Karnataka
A 70-year-old woman was killed and eight others, including three children, were injured in rain-related incidents in Chamarajanagara and Mysore districts last night.
In the first incident, a woman, identified as Madamma, was killed as roof of the house collapsed due to heavy rains at Modally village in Kollegal taluk in the district. While her daughter Sheela was also injured in the incident and admitted to Kollegal Hospital.
In another incident at Kallhalli village in near Hunsur in Mysore district, seven members of family were injured when lightning struck when they had taken shelter under a tree in their agriculture field where they were working. The injured were admitted to Hunsur hospital.
Meanwhile, heavy rains have been lashing Mysore city since last evening throwing normal life out of gear. Rain water submerged the low laying areas and number of trees were uprooted. Power supply remained cut off for entire night and was restored this morning only.
Number of two-wheelers and four-wheelers were damaged as branches of trees fell on them. A car was damaged when a compound wall fell on it in the city.
