Haryana Excise and Taxation Commissioner Sudhir Rajpal today directed that Taxation Officers should be deployed as 'spotters' at toll plaza and Toll Collection Points (TCPs) at the entrance of Haryana to avoid the evasion of tax by buses.

Mr Rajpal who was presiding over a meeting to review the passenger tax collection in the State at New Delhi today said that these spotters would record the number of buses not paying tax at the TCPs and would inform the checking team of neighbouring district on the route regarding non-payment of passenger tax by such vehicles.

Mr Rajpal also directed that the neighbouring districts should share information and coordinate with each other while conducting road side checking. He directed that systematic barricades should be laid on highways to apprehend those buses which try to avoid being captured by CCTV cameras installed at TCP, Kundli in district Sonipat. Apart from this, photography system should be used for preparing database in this regard so that actual number of buses could be ascertained.

He also directed to obtain the data of commercial vehicles registered in the office of the District Transport Officer and reconcile the same with the record of the office.

The Excise and Taxation Commissioner made it clear that the district bordering other States would be responsible for checking and collection of tax pertaining to buses plying on interstate routes.

He said officials posted at TCP would collect tax of single side only in order to avoid confusion to checking staff.

In the meeting Mr Rajpal directed that all District Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC) would coordinate with respective District Taxation Officers (DTOs) regarding obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) in respect of dues under Passengers and Goods Taxation (PGT) Act at the time of passing for effective recovery of arrears under the Act.

He also directed to design a software for preparing online ledger of vehicles.

District Excise and Taxation Commissioner and Assistant Excise and Taxation Officers of Sonipat, Gurgaon and Faridabad districts were also present in the meeting.
