C B Barowalia has been posted as the new Registrar General of Himachal Pradesh High Court today.


Born on March 15, 1961, Mr Barowalia studied law from the H P University.

He practised as an advocate from 1984 to 2003 in the High Court in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Consumer and Service matters.

The new Registrar General had joined H P Judicial Service in the year 2003 and appointed as Additional District and Sessions Judge and remained posted as Officer on Special Duty in the High Court and Additional District and Sessions Judge in Kangra at Dharamshala.

He also served as District and Sessions Judge at Una, Solan, Mandi and Kinnour at Rampur and as President of the district Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum for Kangra and Chamba Districts at Dharamshala.

Mr Barowalia also remained Registrar (Subordinate Judiciary and Judicial) in the High Court and Director of the Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy.

He is also co-authored Commentary on H P Panchayati Raj Act and remained unanimously elected Vice-President of the H P High Court Bar Association for two terms continuously.

He remained on the panel of B S N L and also represented many government organisations and banks.

The High Court also issued orders today appointing Sushil Kukreja as Registrar (Rules), Arvind Malhotra as Registrar (Vigilance), Yashwant Singh as the Registrar (Judicial & Judges Branches) and Dr. Baldev Singh as the Registrar (Administration) in the High Court.
