A militant returning from Pakistan along with wife and children was arrested today in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

''Based on a tip-off, a vehicle was intercepted at Jogi Morh in Surankote area and during searches the militant, who was on way to his home was arrested,'' a senior police official said.

He said the arrested militant identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmad, 34, was arrested along with wife Shamima Akhtar and their seven children.

''He had gone across in Pakistan for arms training and returned in 2001 and was active in Rajouri, Poonch districts,'' said the police official adding that he again went to Pakistan in 2005 and returned to Jammu and Kashmir today but was arrested.

''He claims to be member of Tehreek-e-Insaaf but as per the reports, his outfit was Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba,'' said the official.

''We are investigating the matter and the route he used to reach the state besides his purpose of re-visiting here,'' he added.
