Mining official turns out to be crorepati
The Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment personnel today unearthed nine 'benami' properties -- worth approximately Rs 2 crore -- during a raid at two local premises of a district mining officer posted in Rewa, Lokayukta Police said.
The action against RN Mishra followed a complaint that he possessed assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
The accused owns a four-storeyed under-construction house in Patauri area in this district headquarters, a two-storeyed dwelling at Bharat Nagar, ten acres agricultural land, a 1.5-acre farmhouse, a luxury car and two motorbikes.
Mishra also possesses a two-storeyed house at Bhopal's Minal Residency and ten bank accounts with deposits totalling Rs 13 lakh. One of his premises yielded Rs 2 lakh, documents relating to investment of about Rs 30 lakh in insurance policies etc, two residential plots and a locker that is to be opened tomorrow.
