Assistant sub-inspector of Singhmari police station Jiban Rai was seriously injured when he was attacked by a drunkard with a khukri during a raid at Singmari under Darjeeling sadar last night.

The injured ASI with wounds on his left ear and on head was today admitted to a nursing in Siliguri, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Chaturvedi said.

The ASI, along with two officers and some constables had raided a liquor den at Singmari, was attacked by drunk man, who immediately fled after committing the crime.

Although the police identified the attacker and his associates in the liquor den, but so far no was arrested in this connection.

Meanwhile, police arrested two persons allegedly involved in the clashes between the Trinamool Congress and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters near Mongpoo yesterday.
