The Aurangabad district and session court awarded lifetime imprisonment yesterday, to a youth for murdering an accounts officer of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) around five years ago.


The court also awarded five years rigorous custody to another youth who accompanied the main accused in the crime.

An accounts officer of the RTO, DS Kondawar was shot dead by, Sachin Tayde (23) in Aurangabad on May 30, 2009. The incident took place in the cabin of then Regional Transport Officer, AV Giri.

Sachin, came to Giri's cabin and asked him to cancel the suspension of his father, RP Tayade who was a junior clerk in Ambajogai office, Beed District of the RTO and was suspended in August 2008 on charges of Rs 39 Lakh graft. The case was filed in Ambajogai police station against Tayade.

His son, Sachin had met the RTO Giri around 3 to 4 times demanding induction of his father back in the services.

The case that was filed against Tayade previously, came under jurisdiction of Aurangabad RTO, which was later moved to Latur RTO. Hence, Giri suggested that Sachin meet the Latur officials.
