An amount of Rs 7.70 crore are being utilised to develop 18 playing fields in the Kashmir valley while a Horse Polo and Ice Hocky Rink are being developed in border district of Kargil in Ladakh region.

Officials said that 18 playfields in Kashmir province at an estimated cost of Rs 7.70 crore would be developed by the Youth Service and Sports department.

They said an amount of Rs 3.10 crore has been spent against the released amount of Rs 4.78 crore on development of Horse Polo at Drass, development of Ice Hockey Rink and creation of sports infrastructure for winter games at Kargil. One sports complex at block level would be developed under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan for the promotion of sports activities in the State.
