Pipeline blast at NLC leaves 1 dead, 6 hurt
A pipeline explosion at the 600 MW thermal power plant at the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) today brought the concrete roof down resulting in the death of a senior official and injuring six others,three of them seriously.
NLC sources here said a steam pipeline burst due to heavy pressure resulting in the caving in of the roof housing the Thermal Power Plant I.
Chief Manager Selvaraj was killed while officials Krishnamurthy and Abhishekam and worker Sivalingam sustained serious injuries, including burns.
The trio was rushed to a hospital in Chennai for specialised treatment.
Another three persons, who were also injured, were admitted to a hospital.
