Security forces busted a militant hideout and recovered war-like stores in the frontier district of Kupwara, a defence ministry spokesman said here.


He said the Army and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Bod Banghas Hafruda forest at Nowgam on a tip-off.

After a long search, security forces busted a hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including one rifle, 616 rounds of ammunition, five pistols with 25 rounds, 15 hand grenades, one wireless set, one binocular, one bag and large quantity of ration.

However, no arrests were made, he said adding that the arms and ammunition was to target security force and other vital installations.
