Journalists affiliated to The Chennai Press Club today condemned the attack on journalists of three television channels, including two English channels - Times Now and Headlines Today by supporters of DMK Treasuer M K Stalin in front of his house.

In a statement released to the media later in the evening, president of the journalists body Mr Anbalagan charged that the attack occurred when the journalists of Times Now, Headlines Today and a Tamil Channel 'Puthia Thalaimurai' and a few videographers went to Mr Stalin's residence to gather news about his resignation from party posts.

He also charged that a police man on duty there merely asked the scribes to give a written complaint and he would see what can be done. 'This clearly showed that the policeman was a DMK supporter', he said.

The journalists body also appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to initiate stringent action against those who had attacked the reporters.

Mr Anbalagan also criticised DMK supremo M Karunanidhi for blaming the media for his party's dismal show in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls and instigating his partymen against journalists.

'This enhances the possibility of more attacks on journalists in the state and we will also meet the Chief Minister in this conncetion', he said.
