Samajwadi Party national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh Minority Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan today defended Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on the demand from the BJP of his resignation after the Lok Sabha poll debacle.

"People demanding resignation of Akhilesh Yadav shows their narrow political mind," he said here while claiming that the political situation in UP and Bihar are different.

Mr Khan claimed that Congress was responsible for the BJP's wave in which other parties like Samajwadi Party also lost.

"Congress should be held responsible for the loss and not the SP," he claimed.

He said that SP government enjoys full majority in the assembly and there is no question of the CM's resignation.

Earlier senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra, who won the Lok Sabha from Deoria seat, had demanded the resignation of the UP CM on moral grounds after losing the Lok Sabha elections.
