The prospective and the existing consumers in the area of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) need not purchase meter, cable or other material from the market for new connection or replacement of defective meters or cable.

All the material for these services will now be supplied by the DHBVN as sufficient quantity of the material is available in its stores. The culture of availing the services of agent is also being discouraged by taking a number of reformative steps'.

It was stated by the Managing Director, DHBVN, Mr Arun Kumar Verma here today. He said the DHBVN has procured sufficient quantity of meters and material required for releasing new connections and replacing the old and defective meters and service cables.

No employee of the Discom would now ask any consumer to provide any material. Instructions to this effect have already been issued in the field.

Mr Verma said the DHBVN has established front desks named 'Sojanya Desk' in all the sub divisional offices to help consumers apply for new connections. They need not to contact any agent for this service.

He said now the application and agreement (A and A) forms duly numbered and signed by the SDO concerned would be available at the front desks free of cost and only those A and A forms would be accepted for new connections which are provided at these front desks.

No A and A form procured from any agent would be accepted. The information about the documents required to be submitted will also be available at front desk.

He urged the consumers to help eliminate the agent culture and restrain taking any help from any agent for the electricity services. For domestic and non-domestic (commercial) connections, the formalities and papers/documents have been minimized. Now, the consumers are required to fill in the A and A form (duly signed by the SDO and containing number thereon) and provide two photographs, proof of ownership or authorization of owner and identity only.

Mr Verma said the officials have been directed to give service in a time bound manner as per the standards laid by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC).

The MD said the Discom has already started the facility of online submission of applications for new electricity connections.

In the first phase of the facility, all the prospective industrial consumers and the consumers of all other categories seeking connection of 20 kilowatt or above load are able to submit their application forms and related documents for new electricity connection online through the websites of the Discom i.e.
