Special Investigation team( SIT) filed the charge sheet against Frost International LTD and two other accused before the special court Panaji in the illegal mining case.

The SIT is invesgigating into a number of cases pertaining to illegal mining and this is the first charge sheet that was filed yesterday. The charge sheet has been filed under section 468,471,420 and 120 of the IPC, provision of Mines and Mineral development act, 1957, the rules of Goa prevention of illegal Mining, transportation and storage rules 2004 and section 13 of prevention of corruption act. Two more cases are being investigated by SIT.

The SIT had arrested three people including former director Arvind Lolienkar in connection with the case. The other two are Subrata Barik manager with FrostInternational ltd and former Mines Department employee Robert Gonsalves.

According to information, the SIT has about 40 witnesses in the case. The SIT also moved an application seeking permission of the court for further investigation into the case, which has been granted.

According to the information, SIT has sent the forged NOC along with handwritten samples of the three accused to the forensic laboratory at Hyderabad and the report is awaited. The accused Lolienkar, who was aware of the illegalaites did not initiate stringent action even after it came to light a forged NOC was used to transport ore. Meanwhile, the judicial custody of the three accused has been exended.
