A delegation of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) headed by its leader K.Chandrasekhar Rao today met Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan, here, and staked claim to form the government under Mr Rao's chief ministership.


The TRS team handed over a copy of the resolution of the TRS legislature party electing Mr Rao as its leader. Sixty-three TRS MLAs had met at the Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters in the posh Banjara Hills yesterday and unanimously elected Mr.Rao the TRS legislature party leader clearing the decks for him to become the first chief minister of Telangana state which will come into being early next month.

According to sources,the formation of the first government in Telangana will have to wait till June 2 the Appointed Day when the country's 29th state and the residuary Andhra Pradesh starts functioning officially. The TRS leaders also urged the Governor to advance the Appointed Day, according to sources.

After the formation of the government,the first cabinet meet to be presided by Mr Rao will waive all cases registered against Telangana supporters in the long-drawn agitations for separate Telangana, according to party sources.
