Four engineering students of a private college here were feared drowned after they went to take a bath in the turbulent Damodar river today, police said.

The missing persons were students in the 4th year of the Durgapur Engineering College, police added.

Investigation report said that a group of students had gone to take bath near Durgapur barrage taking advantage of the holiday in the institution and to beat the sweeping heat wave.

As one of the students was swept by the current of the barrage water, three others followed him to rescue but they were also swept away.

Police took the help of divers to trace the missing students.
