Puducherry Chief Minister and All India N R Congres President N Rangasamy today said the Union Territory would develop much under the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rangasamy attributed the victory of AINRC candidate R Radhakrishnan in the Lok Sabha polls to the 'Modi Wave', the pain taken by the AINRC cadres and its allies. Mr Rangasamy thanked 'one and all' who worked hard for the victory.
He said the Union Territory would seek and obtain required funds from the Centre. Mr Modi had already said the states and Union Territories would be treated equally. Hence, Puducherry would certainly achieve much development.
Mr Rangasamy also said that he would soon meet Mr Modi in person and apprise him of the financial crisis being faced by the UT, it's loan dues to the centre etc.
Reiterating that statehood was must for Puducherry, the Chief MinIster said he would lead an all party delegation and meet Mr Modi in this regard.
He said that he would be happy if a ministerial post is given to Mr Radhakrishnan at the Centre. This would help his government to introduce several schemes here.
