All set for counting of votes on May 16
All arrangements for counting of votes polled in the April 24 Lok Sabha elections here on May 16 have been completed.
The votes polled in the Assembly segements in Puducherry region would be counted at the Bharathidasan government college for women here while,the votes polled in the other regions of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam would be counted in the respective regions.
Counting supervisors and assistants have been appointed and the randamisation of them will take place in the presence of observers before the counting process begins, according to an election department release here today.
Micro observers would be posted at each counting tables in consultation with observers and only counting staffs.
All micro observers, observers, candidates and their couting agents and persons authorised by the election commission would be allowed into the counting hall.
Tight security has been provided to the Bharatrhidasan government college where the EVMs are kept in strong room and the entire area would be cordoned off from the early hours of May 16.
Initially the counting of postal ballots would take place and after a gap of 30 minutes the counting of EVMs would start. The entire process is expected to be complted by 1200 hours on May 16.
