The Election Commission has ordered for repoll tomorrow in a booth in Salem Parliamentary constituency which went to polls in the general elections in Tamil Nadu on April 24 due to a snag in an EVM. Chief Electoral Officer,Tamil Nadu Praveen Kumar announced that the repoll in polling station No 254 of 86 Edapalli Assembly segment will be held on May 15 from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs.

The EVM displayed the message 'Unknown Mode' and as such the result recorded in the machine cannot be retrieved during counting of votes, the CEC said.

A new EVM would be used for the repoll and the indelble ink would be applied on the left middle finger of a voter.

Those who did not vote on April24 can also vote during the repoll provided their names are in the electoral roll of the polling station, the CEC announced.
