Robbers uprooted and took away the ATM machine of Central Bank of India from Model Town market, near Jindal Chowk, in the town last night.


Bank executive Abdul told newsmen that the machine had Rs seven lakhs in it. At the time of crime there was no guard inside the ATM and the CCTV camera was also out of order.

The robbery appears to be well planned and committed the crime after a recce. The Forensic Laboratory team took finger prints from the spot today.

The surprising aspect of the incident is that the place of crime is situated near busy national highway and the market remains open till 12 in the night and shops are opened till 0300 hours. The theft was reported to police at about 0800 hours.

Investigation Officer ASI Vikram Singh said the case has been registered and search for culprits has been launched.
