UP BJP upprehends security threat to party leaders
Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party today expressed apprehension on the security of party leaders and candidates in wake of a certain defeat of other political parties in the Lok Sabha election.
"There could be an effort to spoil the atmosphere of the state by the opposition parties during the post poll scenario," alleged state BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak here today.
In a statement, Pathak said that frequent incidents of law and order failure in the state and recent communal violence in Meerut could be the 'trailer' before the elections.
He also apprehended violence in Deoria too after the election results.
"Presence of several criminals in the elections has also threatened the life of the candidates, who could face a backlash who defeat these criminals," he alleged while adding that these criminals have already started giving threats to the candidates, if they lose.
The BJP spokesperson said that EC should direct the UP government to provide security to the candidates and leaders and maintain strict law and order situation on May 16 and thereafter in the state.
