Protests broke out again in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where people alleged that despite bail granted by a local court, police has refused to release a youth detained about a month ago.

The demonstrators, raising pro separatist and anti police slogans, took to streets at Nowpora Chowk, Bandipora today.

Joined by the villagers of Watapora, Qazipora and adjoining areas, the demonstrators blocked the main road, demanding immediate release of Feroz Ahmad Magray, a resident of Wazirpora, a shopkeeper.

They said Magray was arrested by Army from his shop and later handed over to police.

However, a local court granted bail to Magray and directed police to release him if he was not wanted in any other case.

Threatening to intensify their agitation, the demonstrators said Magray was to get married next week.
