Kerala govt urged to adopt new alcohol policy
A meeting of 'The Open Forum on Alcohol Policy' here has urged Kerala Government to adopt a 'people welfare oriented alcohol policy' focusing on raising the standard of living and improvement of public health as enshrined in Article 47 of the Directive Principles of the Constitution of India.
The Forum has also requested the Government to convene an 'Alcohol Policy Development Workshop' in tune with the WHO Global Alcohol Strategy and the National Policy on Alcohol, inviting all Stakeholders concerned before finalizing and adopting the Alcohol Policy for the State, a press release said today.
Senior Journalist M G Radhakrishnan was the Moderator. Alcohol Policy Expert & Director ADIC-India Johnson J. Edayaranmula presented the theme paper.
