Life in Alanganallur - a panchayat town in this Southern district, which hosts the world-renowned 'Jallikattu' (Taming of Bulls), was disrupted due to a day-long bandh to protest against the Supreme Court (SC) ban on the event, today.

The bandh call was given by various organisations, a day after the residents of Palamedu, another panchayat town that also hosts famed Jallikattu event, observed a day's bandh yesterday, demanding the Central and State Governments take legal steps to lift the ban.

About 400 shops and commercial establishments in Alanganallur and its adjoining villages downed their shutters in support of the strike.

Private buses, taxis, load vehicles and auto rickshaws were off the road.
