BJP charges Varanasi authorities of biased attitude
The Uttar Pradesh unit of BJP has taken strong note over permission of holding roadshows of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and termed it as a 'double standard' of the Varanasi administration against the party.
"BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi was not allowed to hold meeting at Beniabagh ground over security threat but Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav were allowed to hold roadshows in the same area today. It is merely a biased attitude of the Varanasi district authorities against the BJP," said party leaders Arun Jatiely and Ravishanker Prasad here today, who are camping in the temple city.
Mr Jaitely said the election commission should review itself and reply why Mr BJP was single-out in the campaigning in Varanasi.
"Why was Rahul Gandhi permitted to hold roadshow in the same area where Mr Modi was denied permission?"asked Mr Jaitley.
He, further said, "Are the security concerns only applicable to BJP and not others? It means that the decision to deny Mr Modi to hold rally in Beniyabagh was politically motivated,".
"We know that the Varanasi district authorities are biased towards us and just allowed Congress,SP and AAP to hold roadshows and meetings at Beniabagh to tease us," said Mr Prasad.
Mr Prasad said Mr Modi do not need any campainging to win the elections ." People are with BJP and going for roadshow, water show or even airshow will not benefit them and Mr Modi will win the elections by a margin of several lakh votes," he claimed.
