Girl students in both science and commerce streams out performed boys in intermediate exams in Jharkhand.

As many as 83.96 per cent girls cleared the exam in commerce, while 67.22 per cent girls passed out in science.

And 71 per cent of the boys passed in commerce and only 62 per cent could pass out in science. Jharkhand Academic Council announced the results for the Intermediate Exam for Science and Commerce Streams with 63.65 per cent clearing the exams in Science while 75.83 per cent students passing out in commerce.

A total of 84,382 students had appeared from Science Stream while 46,757 students from Commerce. The results were announced at a function in the presence of state HRD minister Geetashree Oran and JAC president Anand Bhushan.

Acccording to the JAC academic calendar, the result was to be announced on May 20.

Ms Oraon said that she was happy to see that JAC had announced the results so early and various steps will be taken by the state government to further encourage girls education.

"The government will give special focus on girls education and we also plan to open women colleges in every district of the state," she said. Among the districts, Pakur topped in commerce with 88.10 per cent students clearing the exams, Hazaribagh was second with 83.65 per cent while Ramgarh came third with 82.35 per cent.

In science stream, Palamu topped with 82.78 per cent clearing the exams while Garhwa and Ramgarh came second and third respectively with 74.43 per cent and 72.92 per cent students.
