UP govt issues directives to control law and order during LS vote counting
Uttar Pradesh has issued necessary guidelines to all Divisional Commissioners, IGs zone, range DIGs, DMs and SPs of the State for maintaining law and order during and after counting of the Lok Sabha General elections on May 16.
Principal secretary (Home) Anil Kumar Gupta said here today that it has been stated in the directives that the sensitive areas of all districts, especially those where people of particular caste were residing or having mixed population and such areas which were considered to be most sensitive, should be identified earlier.
He said that adequate security arrangements like deployment of police packets should be ensured at such places and police patrolling should be intensified in order to avoid any untoward incident, during and after the counting of Lok Sabha elections.
After the announcement of election results, supporters of different political parties express their reactions, following which there had always been a possibility of any untoward incident, which could affect the law and order situation of the state.
The Principal Secretary Home said that directives had been issued to take strict action to check such activities, especially taking out of victory processions.
