Cities to be made clean ahead of 150th Gandhi Jayanti: Modi
Promising to make under-developed places of Uttar Pradesh clean akin to Surat city in Gujarat, Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said these cities will be made more tidy ahead of the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in 2019.
"I assure better infrastructure and cleanliness in the under-developed cities of the UP till 2019," Mr Modi said while talking abouit his cleanliness campaign during his address at an election meeting here.
These cities will be made to look like Surat in Gujarat, he maintained.
"I have decided to announce about my plans dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Bapuji from the pious land of Varanasi, but the district administration denied me the permission to hold the rally at Beniyabagh ground,"the Gujrat CM asserted.
A couple of days ago, the Varanasi district administration had denied permission to Mr Modi to hold rally at Beniyabagh ground due to security reasons.
Mr Modi asked the people in the election meeting that whether they want a remote-controlled government or a strong and stable government that will usher in development.
Without taking the name of Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, Mr Modi said the government of a mother-son duo promised to provide 10 crore employment to the youth, which turned out to be a 'fake promise'.
Hitting out at Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and his Chief Minister son Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Modi said the condition of roads and power situation hints that little work has been done by the present UP government.
Drawing a parallel between the Gujarat government and the UP government, Mr Modi said "the milkmen in Gujrat sell their milk through companies and get Rs 41 per litre, but the condition of the milkmen in UP is not good. They deliver milk in houses and still get low price," he noted.
He asked the youth to come forward and make their contribution in formation of a strong government.
