Supreme Court Bar Association bids farewell to three judges
The Supreme Court Bar Association today bid farewell to three judges of the top court who are due to retire during vacation.
Justices A K Patnaik, K S Radhakrishnan and S S Nijjar were sworn in as judges of the apex court on the same day in November 2009.
Justice Patnaik had delivered many landmark judgements to clean the Augean stables of Indian politics.
He delivered a judgement disqualifying MPs, MLAs and ministers, who, have been awarded sentence of three years or more and politicians, including Lalu Prasad, ex-Congress MP Rasheed Masood, former JD-U MP Jagdish Prasad Sharma, lost their seats in Parliament.
Justice K S Radhakrishnan had also delivered several important judgements and sent Sahara group chief Subrata Roy to jail on March 4 this year for not refunding Rs 20,000 crore to the investors of the two real estate companies of the group.
Justice Nijjar has also delivered many important rulings.
