Untimely rain damaged crops in Krishna and West Godavari districts today. However, the rain brought respite from scorching heat in the districts.

Official sources said here today that rain damaged paddy and mango crops in Avanigadda region of Krishna district.

Paddy crop, ready to be harvested, in thousands of acres, was damaged due to rain. The worst affected is mango crop, since the crop is being harvested across the region. The rain caused fruits to fall from the trees.

In West Godavari district, rain occurred at Bhimavaram, Undi, Ummidivaram, Tanuku Jangareddy Gudem and Palkole.

Maize crop in thousands of acres got damaged while paddy got soaked in rain water.

Mango crop was badly damaged in the region. However, the rain would help vegetable crops, sources said.

The cloudy weather in the city brought big relief from sweating. Since morning thick clouds spread all over the sky, with breeze blowing all over.

However, no untoward incident was reported due to rains in Krishna District, officials sources said.
