Puducherry registered a slight increase in the pass percentage in the Plus Two examinations this year.

According to official sources, compared to the 88.17 percent pass last year, Puducherry registered 89.61 percent with a slight 1.54 percent increase.

Of the 13477 students appeared for the examination in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the union territory, 12,077 were sucessful.

Once again girls with a pass percentage of 92.48 dominated over boys whose pass percentage stood at 86.12 per cent.

Mohammed Javeed of Primrose bagged the first rank scoring 1191/1200 and Anandavel of Amalorpavan Higher secondary school bagged the second rank with 1187 marks while, Hameed Nazera of Nirmala Rani school, Karaikal annexed the third rank. In the government schools, all the top ten places were bagged by the students of Karaikal region with Abhirami and Marshal Andrew sharing the first place with 1177 marks.

Official sources said that in the last four years the over all pass percentage in the union territory has enhanced by six per cent while it enhanced by seven percent in the government sector.
